Might it not be that I'm not afraid of making money, but that I fear success? That seems much more at the root of my problem...

You're not alone.

Hmm. I realize that, as a "phobia", it need not (and some would say it "does not", by definition) "make sense" for you to fear the things that you fear. However, it seems to me that "fearing success" might easily be a fear of any number of other more- and less-tangible things that come with, or are associated with success - money, as you noted; but also possibly fame or being recognized, being different from one's peers, responsibility, becoming pidgeon-holed in the area of your success, etc.

Anyways, I guess the same could be said about fearing making money... what it is about making money (or having money) that might be frightening? Is it the money itself? It seems to me that it would be more likely for someone to fear what that money - or earning potential - represents. Does it make you feel bad to make more money than others? Do you feel unworthy of your earning potential? Do you feel that money is a prison, or a temptation, or a possible addiction? And so on.

I dunno, just a thought to perhaps keep thinking deeper to search for a more specific thing...

B.

Being different has always been a huge one for me as well.
